What We Do
For over 5 years, HFAN has been active in Cameroon, delivering public health interventions and conducting research to reduce illness and mortality. Our work is structured into five core themes:
- Disease Control & Elimination
- Nutrition and WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene)
- Pharmacovigilance
- Vaccines & Immunity
- Maternal and Child Health
Disease Control and Elimination Mandate
- Control and eliminate priority diseases including:
- Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) such as snakebite envenoming, onchocerciasis, and lymphatic filariasis
- Malaria
- Tuberculosis (TB)
- HIV/AIDS
- Strengthen public health systems for diagnosis, treatment, and management
- Promote community engagement and awareness to reduce stigma
Pharmacovigilance
- Monitor and report adverse drug reactions
- Promote safe use of medicines and vaccines
- Support pharmacovigilance systems strengthening
Nutrition and WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
- Improve nutrition and WASH practices to prevent diseases
- Support community-based nutrition and WASH initiatives
- Advocate for policies promoting healthy nutrition and WASH
Vaccines & Immunity
- Support vaccination campaigns and routine immunisation
- Promote vaccine awareness and uptake
- Advocate for equitable access to vaccines
- Provide travel health advice and vaccinations for high-risk groups
Maternal and Child Health
- Improve maternal and child health outcomes
- Support antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, and postnatal care
- Promote breastfeeding and child nutrition
